Yokote no Wagaya – Community Kitchen of Renovation for Traditional JPN House
Akita

YOKOTE-no-WAGAYA is a community-generating-center based on local food culture, renovated 100 years old private house in Akita prefecture. The goal of our client was to produce a platform to enable communication diversity between local residents and tourists from all over the world. Therefore, our design objective is to create a future platform connecting to the history of this place. Through the Architectural way, we aimed to integrate 100-years historical atmosphere and nowadays. The first operation was to detach all additional elements covering original design to bring the house back to the original. Then we have deigned new functions to integrate the history and the future by rearranging all existing elements in this house. This brand logo has different meanings like a private house, circle kitchen, Sugitama (Japanese-cedar-leaf ball), and smiles. YOKOTE-no-WAGATA generates a new dynamic communication for global and local people for the future.
