Every year, young architects are introduced at AGC studio Exhibition to unfold each visions for the future of architecture.
In 2014, SUGAWARADAISUKE was selected with 13 other architects, and exhibited ‘Yutaka Kindergarten’ at ‘AGC studio Exhibition No.12’.
In this exhibition, we aimed to create an exhibit that allows the viewers to experience the featured architecture, rather than displaying ordinary models.
1. Magnifying Glass
‘Yutaka Kindergarten’ offers diversity of spaces to create ‘gardens of learning through play’. For viewers to trace those experiences, ‘magnifying glasses’ are placed around the model with little comments to guide the viewers.
2. Notation Balloons
To tell the stories that each space holds, notation balloons are placed on the model.
These two methods allow viewers to relive a day at the kindergarten from the teachers’ and the pupil’s point of view.
These methods allows to viewers to experience architecture that one never visited. Through these experiences, this exhibit aims to create an opportunity for people to exchange their thoughts on the ‘essential quality’ of architecture.
